Há mais marés que marinheiros
Hey everyone, I’m Ayden. As you can tell from my amazing Portugese, I just got back home after an exchange semester in Lisbon. Still wide-eyed, a little sunburnt, and trying to figure out how this whole life thing works as a 21 year old.
I didn’t come back with many answers, except one: I want to be a lifelong learner. I want to keep listening, asking better questions, messing up, and moving forward with more honesty each time. That’s what led me to my favourite quote:
“Há mais marés que marinheiros” — “There are more tides than sailors.”
There are more opportunities than people willing to take them
That mindset’s pulled me toward what feels real. I started a run club. Took the lead on Movember at uni. Created a reflection series to unpack masculinity. Founded Growing Flowers, a student forum to hold space for the stuff we don’t usually talk about.
Now, I’m planning a mini docu-series to keep that energy going, real people, real stories, real conversations. Mental health. Masculinity. Vulnerability. Uncovering what’s really going on around us, one simple question at a time.
Right now, I’m learning. From the people around me. From the projects I’m building. From every small moment that reminds me we’re all just trying to figure it out.
I don’t know exactly where I’m headed, but I’m following what feels true. And that feels like a good place to begin.
At the end of the day
I’m just passionate about people!
